1. Course Purpose and Scope

The Sexual Health Clinician is a continuing professional development (CPD) course designed for registered medical practitioners, particularly general practitioners (GPs) in Australia. The course is developed and delivered by Dr Armin Ariana, MD, PhD, Accredited Clinical Sexologist, and Associate Professor in Medical Education at Griffith University.

The course provides structured clinical education in sexual health communication and consultation skills. It is intended to supplement, not replace, formal medical training, clinical supervision, or jurisdiction-specific clinical guidelines.

Important: This course does not provide patient care, clinical diagnosis, or treatment advice for individual patients. Course participants remain solely responsible for their own clinical decision-making, scope of practice, and compliance with relevant professional and legal standards.

2. Not Medical Advice

Nothing in this course, on this website, or in related communications constitutes medical advice, clinical diagnosis, or a treatment recommendation for any individual patient or clinical situation. All content is provided for educational and professional development purposes only.

While every effort has been made to ensure the clinical accuracy of the educational material, sexual health is a rapidly evolving field. Course participants should always verify current clinical guidelines, therapeutic goods administration (TGA) approvals, and local prescribing requirements before applying any information from this course in clinical practice.

3. AI Simulated Patient Lab

The AI Simulated Patient Lab uses artificial intelligence (powered by ElevenLabs Conversational AI) to create simulated patient scenarios for practice purposes. Participants should be aware of the following:

  • Simulated patients are generated by AI and do not represent real individuals or real clinical presentations.
  • The AI may produce responses that are clinically inaccurate, incomplete, or unexpected. These do not constitute clinical guidance.
  • The simulated patient lab is a learning tool for practicing communication and consultation skills. It is not a clinical decision support system.
  • Structured written feedback generated from simulated patient interactions is designed to highlight communication patterns and is not a formal clinical assessment of competence.
  • Voice audio from simulated patient interactions is processed in real time and is not retained after the session ends. Conversation transcripts may be retained for feedback delivery.

By using the AI simulated patient lab, you acknowledge that AI-generated scenarios are educational simulations only and accept that the AI may produce imperfect or unexpected outputs.

4. Professional Responsibility

Enrolment in and completion of this course does not confer any clinical qualification, medical specialisation, or scope-of-practice extension. It does not replace or substitute for:

  • Formal postgraduate training in sexual health
  • RACGP, ACRRM, or other college-specific accredited training programs
  • Clinical supervision requirements applicable to your registration
  • Jurisdictional laws regarding prescribing, mandatory reporting, or clinical practice

You are responsible for practising within your own scope of competence and in accordance with the standards set by the Medical Board of Australia and AHPRA. If in doubt about your scope of practice in relation to any topic covered in this course, seek guidance from your professional college, a qualified specialist, or your medical indemnity insurer.

5. CPD Recognition

This course provides a Certificate of Completion upon meeting the course requirements. The certificate reflects participation in a self-directed professional development activity. It does not represent formal accreditation by the RACGP, ACRRM, or any other medical college at this time.

Participants may be able to claim self-directed learning CPD hours with their relevant college. It is each participant's responsibility to verify whether the course meets their specific CPD requirements.
